A goy is speaking negatively of a Jew. This could be about the Jew as a person (i.e. his character) or about their past deeds. The Jew overhears this, but does not want to take revenge or speak negatively against the goy, rather letting Hashem "avenge" him. Is there a prayer or saying that the Jew can say, to "curse" the goy who said the evil words? I have heard of cursing someone in Hashem's Name, but are there other such "curses" that Jews can turn to rather than exacting physical or verbal revenge (i.e. letting Hashem take revenge on the Jews' behalf)?
Thanks

Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question. You have written,"[The Jew] doesn't want to take revenge or speak negatively against the goy." If the person whom the insults are directed "doesn't want revenge or speak against the goy," why would a third party want to curse the goy?
I might be mistaken but I am under the assumption that curses can only be given by a tsdek. These are not given out without much consideration. The person whom the curse is directed has to be guilty of the accused crime and it must warrant divine approval before a curse is actualized. This is not easily carried out. Better you should pray that the goy should have a change of heart and realize the sin he has comitted against G-d's chosen.

BS"D "Hashem does not desire the death of the wicked, but rather that they repent from their evil ways - and they will live. (Yechezkel 18:32)"
I.e. daven that he do teshuva.
In general, the Rebbe's approach is to bestow blessings and not the opposite. I recall hearing that the Rebbe said: "we must drown the world with blessings," and "from here (i.e. 770) only blessings go forth."
Also, the Jew should introspect; perhaps he is somehow lacking in his behaviour and creating a chilul Hashem, thus contributing to this gentile's unfavourable attitude towards Jews.
Walter - everyone has a certain power to bless or the opposite ("do not take lightly the blessing of an ordinary person"), except that a Tzadik's power to do so is vastly greater.

What I meant to curse is: What prayer can the Jew say so that the goy gets his just reward from Hashem for the bad things he has been saying? Historically, Hashem has punished goyim for their mistreatment of Jews. I am just wondering if there is something that can be said by the Jew, so that Hashem will punish the goy for what the goy said against the Jew?

If the goy has hate towards the Jew he is already cursed. Hate is a disease that destroys the soul. Hebrew Hate = sin nun alef..,
Hebrew Sickness = alef nun sin. The similaritites teach that hate spelled backwords is a sickness that has a potential to destroy the physical and spiriatual make up of an individual. Although many may bless.., few can curse. Sometimes even a curse given by a tsedek turns out to be a blessing to it's victum.
don't you think the goy will be punished by Hashem without a person's saying anything?

In other words 'hate the sin, not the sinner'.
y'know, theres a story when some king (?) commanded his Jewish friend/advisor (??) to cut off the tongue of the man who had cursed him (the Jew). When a while later they walked past the man who began singing praises to the jew, the king turned angrily to the jew-"didn't i tell u to chop off his tongue?!!?" and the jew answered "i did, i chopped off his nasty tongue and replaced it with a sweet one".
(ok, im sure lots of you out there know the real story with the details and names and will hopefully post it)

I can't know who G-d will punish or not punish for sins committed against the Jew. But the curse of a tsidek has the potential to quicken judgement. What that judgement is, only G-d knows. But, the curse of a tsidek is very real. Even in our day, especially in our day.

What I meant to curse is:
BS"D Yes, I understood what you meant. Uh, did you read what I wrote? My point was that one should not curse, one should bless. This is the derech the Rebbe has taught us.
In other words 'hate the sin, not the sinner'.
Uh, although the concept is valid, that's a very goyish reference, so you might want to avoid using it in future.

Maybe we should steal the reference back. ;) After all, the idea originates from the Torah. Such as Yacov cursing his son's anger, but not his son. We learn from this the ubove lesson.
