I've always wanted to know why the prayer concerning dreams is part of the blessing. As far as I know there doesn't seem to be any mention of dreams is any other part of davening. Are dreams significant nowadays?

Thanks

The sefer Taamei Ha'Minhagim says (p. 56) that the reason is that a dream is 1/60 of nevua, and the kohanim are "kulo nevua," for which reason it is forbidden to look at their hands, because the Shechina rests on their hands, and therefore we say the Ribono shel olam, in order to be mevatel the dream in 60 (batel b'shishim). This reason is quoted from the Noam Elimelech on parshas Teruma.

The note on the bottom of the page says that in medrash Talpiot, os 5, it says in the name of Sefer Toras Chaim, the reason a dream is batul with birkas kohanim is because there are 60 letters in the birkas kohanim, and a dream is 1/60 of nevua, and so the birkas kohanim is mevatel it.
