Yom-Tov Shel R"H, 5666
On page Mem-Zayin, one line up from the last line on the page, there's an abbreviation I cannot decipher:
Ayin-Vov-Reish-Shin"Mem.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Leayis

I am seeking some recommendations on what to learn in Hemshech Samech Vov.
At Pesach time I learned a Pesach maamor, and have I learned one or two others in the sefer. But rather than randomly pick something else, I'd like to proceed a little methodically.
Thanks in advance.

The bocherim learn it cover to cover. Find someone who knows it that well. There are plenty.

Gevurah--can't PM you; your box is full.
The advice you give above is, of course, sound but is not practical for me at present. Rather than sitting idly waiting for an opportunity learn it k'devai, I would like to attempt to proceed little by little.
Given those parameters, can you make a recommendation? Or are you takka a maximalist's maximalist? ;)

Learn about the 2 types of eved - poshut and ne'eman - from about p 308 onwards.

why not go in order. Maskil, why are you suggesting learning the hemshech not in a hemshech. a maamer here and a maamer there is not good. someone learning 66 is obviously serious about learning chassidus in which case learning it al haseder is the only real way to do it. let it take 5 years who cares?

maskil, if you are already selecting maamorim, how could you have ommited lech lecho and ki yedaativ? (taanug and rotzon) how about vayechulhu (motee vilo motee and rotzu veshuv). quite honestly every maamar there is gold.

Every maamor there is gold. And I have been learning it al haseder. But YN said that that's a little too heavy for him right now, so I cited the individual maamorim that affected me the most.

i see that you reffered him to viavrohom zoken. thats not a heavy maamor? its probably as heavyas lech lecho and vayera.

It has nothing to do with level of difficulty. It was the theme and the idea of the maamor that affected me (The significance of Yegia B'Torah if memory serves) , not the fact that it was easy to read.

There is a particular spot that Reb Yoel would start from. Anyone know which it is?

The mamer's d"h is Vayailech ish not Vayikach ish...(the posuk goes like this 'vaylech ish mibeis levi vayikach es bas levi').

I decided that since R"H is approaching, I might as well dive in from the beginning and see what transpires.
I have a question from last line of page ches/first line of tes:
"...bechinas gilui hakav sh'meir b'Gan Eden v'tzadikim yoshvin v'nehenin miziv hashechina sh'masigim bchinas mahus haziv hazeh chuleh"
Am I correct to understand this to say that the ziv hashechina is a gilui of the kav? (And not that "mahus ziv hazeh" is the kav)
yes, (but mahus ziv ze is also.... I am not sure what you are asking...)

My question is just to clarify that the ziv hashechina and the ziv hazeh are the same ziv and are distinct from the kav. In other words: each ziv is a single gilui hakav, but not the kav itself, correct?

The AR writes in Likkutei Torah: B'Rosh Hashana hischadshus chiyus kloli l'chol hashana...
This chiyus is above hishtalshelus? Or only through tshuva/slicha do we reach above hishtalshelus?
If it is not above hishtalshelus, then it is already present in the kav. (?)
If it is above hishtalshelus, then it is not already present in the kav (?)

Are you asking if "ziv" and 'kav' are the same thing ?

I am assuming they are not the same thing here.
"...bechinas gilui hakav sh'meir b'Gan Eden v'tzadikim yoshvin v'nehenin miziv hashechina sh'masigim bchinas mahus haziv hazeh chuleh"
There is a revelation of the kav in Gan Eden, and tzaddikim take pleasure from comprehending the mahus of this ziv (ziv=revelation of the kav), etc.
Right?
Yes, (see the next mamer where it elaborates on Gan [and] Eden etc.)
The AR writes in Likkutei Torah: B'Rosh Hashana hischadshus chiyus kloli l'chol hashana...
This chiyus is above hishtalshelus? Or only through tshuva/slicha do we reach above hishtalshelus?
Did you finish learning the mamer ? (I'll assume you did not, although if you did not then you should wait until you finish it).

B'Rosh Hashana hischadshus chiyus kloli l'chol hashana...

Perhaps you are referring to the statement that "haslicha hu gilui ratzon haelyon shelemala mihishtalshelus"
If there is tshuva, then b'vadai it is above hishtalshelus.
My question is the his'chadshus that stam takes place on Rosh Hashana (perhaps lacking proper tshuva, ch'v)--was this chiyus kloli already in the kav?

No, I meant what it says towards the end of the mamer in the third ois...

We are talking about "hischadtus" here...
I would just like to add as an after thought that the mamer you are learning in LT is in Heichal Menachem's chasiduss muveres which might help you...

'(In one of the chassidic discourses in a manuscript compilation that recently reached me from Eretz Yisrael, such a ketz is applied to the year 5638. The same is true of the year 5666. As my revered father-in-law, the Rebbe [Rayatz], once related, on Rosh HaShanah of that year his father, the Rebbe Rashab, said that he was apprehensive about the coming year because it included a ketz. Besides, it was the year following a leap year.)"
The footnote reads: "Sefer HaMaamarim 5666 [1906] (Kehot, 5751), at the end of the Hosafos (Addenda), p. 688."
I have a later edition, with a different page 688.
Can anyone advise me where I can find this statement of the FR regarding Rosh Hashana 5766?

Given Chabad's tendency to make a big deal about anniversaries, are there any Chabad mosdos or Talmidim organizations that are focusing on the Samech-Vov "YT shel RH" Hemshech on this 100th anniversary of its beginning?

I believe a new annotated version is coming out (or may be partially out already). There are also some who plan on learning the weekly maamor every week.

currently there have been three projects on samech vov:
there's the edition with marei mekomos - made by olidort feldman.., there's the one which quotes all the marei mekomos, and there's one being made by your's truly - and that's even before the beginning of the new year!
but learning the weekly maamer won't really help since the maamorim aren't exclusively ordered in such a pattern, and that the hemshech encompasses more that two whole years

Where are these other editions of Samech-Vov available? (I have never seen them.)
