I heard a drush recently where someone quoted the Rebbe
about Bal Tosif and quoted Minchas HaChinuch as well as
a comment about a midrash(?) about Chava and how since she
said Elokim said not to touch the tree it was not the same as she
being the one to add the extra fence...
where is this sicha?
possibly Likutei Sichos, chelek 1, p. 253

Can anyone point me to a place where the Rebbe says that one who knows aleph should teach aleph?

wondering: The kuntress "beis . . .", can be found in several places, the most famous one is in the hosafos of Sefer Hasichos 5752, page 465 an on. It's also in Hisva'adoyos (lately called Toras Menachem ) 5752, probably in the first volume. There is a table of contents in the beginning, which should be able to tell you the page number.

I will be glad to try (bl'n) to help you out, if you will clarify the question as to which sichos exactly is a refrence needed. As for sichos "known as the proof of the Lubavitcher Rebbe being moshiach ", Isn't the proof for this thing (only) from the Rambam 's Hilchos M'lochim ? As for chassidim 's personal belief in the Rebbe being Moshiach , that always existed, in previous generations too, as no proof is needed. As for the Rebbe's will to publicize that he is moshiach , I don't know of such a sicha , neither does the majority of Lubavitch know of such (and if they do, then they're not fullfilling the Rebbe's wish). They are certainly not known.

Yankel Nossson, otzar770.com (a hebrew site?) answers all such questions. Why not try it out?

asher s- thank you.
why is no proof needed for chasidim to beleive the rebbe's mashiach? no rhyme or reason? what gives anyone any right to beleive something like that? there must be something the rebbe said or hinted to that makes them think that- which is what i was asking for.
also another question- the song "yechi"- in what sense is the rebbe alive" that it makes any sense to proclaim "he should live forever"? is it really in any type of physical sense? and if yes- how??

Wondering- if it makes you feel better, you can look at the word "Yechi" as being in future tense.
More food for thought: Dovid Melech Yisroel Chai Vekayam?
There's quite a few threads rehashing Yechi. Check the Controversy section.

R' Yoel Kahn, wrote several years ago - in response to a series of Halachik articles if the Rambam's critera for Moshiach can apply to the Rebbe after 3 Tammuz - a few long write - ups in which he elaborates on the reason Chassidim believe, and always did, that their Rebbe is Moshiach. They can be found in the Kovetz Moshiach U'geulah, published by Rabbi Beryl Levin, 5756.
