Sometimes a boy/girl comes into town for a wedding and a shadchan arranges for them to meet someone. The boy/girl has a ticket to leave, let's say, the next day.

What bothers me about this is that under normal circumstances, when a first date/meeting goes all right, even if not great, the couple meets again. But under these circumstances, unless the date/meeting was fantastic, the boy/girl will not bother to fly in again to give it a second chance. So the first meeting is basically about the other one's looks and whether you immediately hit it off.

On the other hand, people figure - who knows? maybe they'll hit it off ...

What do you think? How committed do you think the boy/girl has to be to coming in for a 2nd date/meeting, before meeting for the first time?

I think it has to be more than a shadchan quickly arrranging something. If they've already done their homework and checked each other out and one of them stops by at the place where the other is it could work out.
