I would highly recommend that Bochurim should take a look, or Learn the Sicha of Acharoin Shel Pesach 5736, a Sicha of the Rebbe about the uniqueness of a Tomim, and the Acharayyus which is on him. I think this Sicha should be made a "Shturrem" in Lubavitch Yeshivos world-wide. Its important!

I agree. It's a very powerful sicha and makes the role of a Tamim quite clear

some salient points:

the Rebbe delineates the various avodos a bachur needs to be engaged in: learning (Chasidus and nigleh), davening, and hafatza, and how to prioritize them - the Rebbe gives them ALL priority :D ) and after asking how this is possible, explains how

the gist of the "how" is posted here:

here's an unambiguous line from the sicha:

"The ikar inyan of a talmid is limud ha'Torah: and he cannot be successful in his Torah study except if there's yegia, as Chazal say, "yogaati u'matzasi taamin": if he doesn't exert himself in Torah (real exertion - learning more than what he is used to, the opposite of his nature) - then even if he is particular about keeping the zmanei ha'limud - he will be unable to be successful in his learning."

the Rebbe also responds to "those who err and maintain: since the talmidim are asked to spread Torah and Yiddishkeit and the wellsprings, and periodically this demand increases, it would seem that the primary involvement now should be in these areas, and to do this, time should be taken off ch'v from learning and davening and keeping the sedarim in yeshiva, as though times ch'v have changed in this regard -

"they must know that the curriculum of the yeshiva ... is eternal, in all times and in all places ...

" ...A talmid of Yeshivas Tomche Tmimim is not a metzius for himself, and therefore his free time isn't his, but belongs to our Rebbeim, the founders of the yeshiva ...

"Even those who left the walls of Yeshivas Tomchei Tmimim - this holiness of the yeshiva did not move from its place within them ... he remains a talmid of our Rebbeim his entire life."
