I think it's a good thing. Considering the type of people it caters to. Besides, I like the unrest in the youth, it makes change. You might argue that it isn't being channeled well, but doing nothing and just resigning to the situation is worse.

Read the lyrics, and tell me what is good about them, how it will increase anyone's yiras shomayim etc.
Do you really think this is what the Rebbe means by hafotzo (and how would he react to the lyrics)?

Idle curiosity: Where did these kids learn?

I don't see anything so terrible about it. Sure, it's not the type of thing I would play at home to my kids, but for people who need to associate Chassidishkeit with something "hip, funny and entertaining", it has its uses. Some people need to see some humor and "lightening up", in addition to deep learning and Farbrenging.

As for the Rebbe's reaction, of course neither I, nor anyone else can predict that, but I could imagine the Rebbe smiling at the lyrics.

Torah613

Right, the Rebbe would really chuckle at "barfin on the floor", "having to be carried out", and all the other rubbish there. Really hilarious. Nebach...

As the Rebbe quoted from Pirkei Avos many times "uMikarvon l'Torah" - 'and he brings them closer to the torah' , And NOT the opposite.

niggunim arent the type of songs that just stay in your head and u sing them over (for most of us)

and these songs do

even poeple who dont listen to goyishe music still hear it here and there. and they sometime wake up and want to smack themselves they were just humming a goyishe song!!! this music can help for that

besides its not an issur so i dont know if mekarvan latorah applies... they are just making it easier they are not going against torah....

I am not going to get into the premise that you are saying about niggunim, But I will say this..It is better for them to have Avraham fried's (and the likes) songs going on in their heads then these songs vdal.

Nobody said there was an issur [although...] Mekarvan Letorah does not [only] mean an issur (for which you do not need pirkei avos -mili dchasidusa- rather) it means Not making 'any' psharos what so ever.

Besides, What in the world are they 'making easier’? And for who? (The person who listens to this music any how? is this going to stop him? no, The person who does not usual listen to this type of music? He should start!?)

I have to say that i went on their site, and listened to their songs... They're hillarious, if anything it makes me laugh at them then get inspired... I suppose that these individuals felt a need to pursue their dreams of becoming a rock band, thus they attmepted to "kasher" it...
Will it make you feel uplifted? NO
Will it make you feel lower? Not neccissarily
Will it make be productive? Seems like bittul zman...
Is it of any use to anyone? I can't answer for others.....

the name of the CD and the content don't really go together and it's very misleading.
if they would just call it another name - then i guess there would be less complains and it would be just another "shlock rock"... but those guys are claiming to GO CHASSIDISH
:errm:

i do see a place for such music on the market but the way they position themselves - dose of chassidic rock for general chassidic crowd - is not right and confusing.

shmais btw put this next to the ad

Note: parents may want to sample this music before buying for their children

but the whole ad goes like this:

Goin’ Chassidish is a hip, funny and entertaining new album which communicates messages of chassidus through comical rock music.

i really don't know what to say to you people besides maybe chill out! i mean didn't you ever hear of singers like david lazar, black hattitude, shlock rock, mettalish, oif simchas... oh and is blue fringe rock  ? and lets not forget about all those Israeli singers which being that they sing in ivrit it makes the music kosher ok j/k there, but these are just some of the general Jewish rock music that are pretty popular and plenty off ppl listen and enjoy of course there are those who dont listen (hey im sure there are alot of ppl who don't listen to carelbach too, though i don't know of too many)

ok i don't want to get carried away cuz im sure there is a different thread on music but i just don't understand why are people bashing this cd going chasidish? is their music asur? do they have any negative in their lyrics?? bad toychin?? or maybe are they copying it from non-jewish music??? i understand some ppl don't really like rock (sensitive ears) so hey if you want to stick to nigunei chabad no problem, me personaly i love a great farbrengen and i love singing niggunim at a farbrengen, but when im sitting by the computer listening to music or almost any other time niggunei chabad just wont do the trick and i appreciate bands like these for their lively tunes and funny chilled lyrics and entertainment (and for keeping me awake :D )

i happened to be at yam jam this past motzei shabbos and they played one of the songs and the response was pretty positive (ok so it was at yam jam but still isn't that the point? vdal) also i liked the way he explained the chasidish concept of "going chasidish" why going, becouse a jewish person has to be constantly on the go, always working on himself and trying to be better and better,
(and when your not moving forward... it ain't good)

whatever, im just kinda baffled and trying to figure out whats the reason ppl really seem upset at this kind of music, and this cd in particular. me personally i like this style music but hey everyone is entitled to MY opinion hehe j/k, in truth i understand that ppl dont listen to this kind of music and im sorry if i come off as kinda pushy or loud(but as i always say live and let live, although it doesn't seem right for you...)

btw just a reality check how many ppl are aware of where mbd's song yidden yidden originated from? (the truth is kinda crazy)

BaisHamikdashBa
06-22-2004, 12:59 PM
your right!!!!!!! besides its better than david lazzar.... who have reall goyishe songs and change 5 words.

Roza, Jewish music throughout all generations has always been somewhat similar to that of the surrounding Goyim.
E.g. Sefardic music is similar to (Lehavdil) Arabic music.
Yekkishe tunes are similar to (Lehavdil) German songs.
Even Lubavitcher Niggunim are similar in style to (lehavdil) old Russian compositions. (I once happened to hear a Russian orchestra playing Russian classical music. You wouldn't believe how familiar some of the tnuos sounded!)

Nevertheless, you would surely not say they are all non-Jewish music (CH"V).

My personal answer to CHdish is as follows: Jewish music is music composed (or in some cases adopted) by Jews with the purpose of expressing Jewish Torah values.

BTW, for the Rebbe's opinion on "adopting" non Jewish tunes, see this post (http://www.chabadtalk.com/forum/showthread.php3?s=&postid=52334&highlight=tunes#post52334)

There's the story where the besht bought a song from a sheperd who forgot the song and the besht said that the song he bought was originally from the BHMK. It's a beautiful nigun!

Wow I just had a good laugh reading through this forum!

Can't you ppl see, it's basically an argument between teenagers and adults.

Duh, you ppl won't compromise, most things kids, teens enjoy are more or less a headache to adults.

My mother dislikes music period. So whichever music is on she'll find something against it either way.

Same here, whatever teens will agree with, you'll more or less get an argument from the older ones.

PICK YOUR BATTLES!! ( Something I constantly her in my house)!

Is it really worth it to start anything against the new CD Goin C?

What will come out of it.. Nothing.

The kids like it, who cares, they are not going to "Fry out" because of it, so why bother? Is there a major issue that they find something they more or less enjoy?

All tunes are originals ( I know it for a fact).

It originated from camp ( my brother was attending) a few years ago when some bachurim/counselors decided to make lyrics up for fun, ok so they decided to make some money out of it too, but that's not the point.

Are parents really scared no good will come out of it? Lighten up!

I can understand that oyvey, what will the world think of Lubavitch...

But then again WHAT DOES the world think of Lubavitch, we've always been different and everyone out there will always have something to complain about... Ok so now it's music!

Have a wonderful Shabbos!

Just brilliant. With this kind of "thinking", you can now permit anything. I think you need to have more contact with chasidisher Yidden.

07-06-2004, 06:04 PM
Has doing anything different stop you because someone might say something about it?

I don't want to compare anything, but for ex the whole Mivtzoim thing was a big joke to the worlds eye when the Rebbe first established it.. and now everyone is doing it, it became accepted.

We took the first step into the boiling bath.

It's just simple rock music, lyrics made by our very own Bachurim, trying to reach out to those who have no interest in regular music, where is the sin in that?

Although we have been getting lots of support regarding our new album, there are those who feel that such a production is uncalled for. Below was our response to a woman who feels this Cd may not be a good thing for our children...

As far as we are concerned, we believe that the only music a Bochur or teenager should be listening to is Nichoach and Chabad Nigunim, but unfortunately this is not the case. For whatever reason, such music doesn't appeal to a very large number of our youth.

Our songs on the other hand have proven to make many youth relate to what their teachers and Mashpiim have been preaching to them. In the past our music has made Chassidishkite a fun, cool and accessible thing. Also it has encouraged many kids to stay in the system. No one has ever been mirachek from these songs, aderaba, the opposite is true. Before recording this album we actually sat down with several Mashpiim and had them edit all the lyrics before going into production.

It's not like rock music is something which is only in the black
market and we will be the first ones to introduce such music to these teens. Anyone who has a radio, anyone who uses the internet or goes shopping in the mall has access to such music and the reality is, huge numbers of our children are engaging in such music on a regular basis.

There is nothing wrong with our songs; they are totally original
tunes and all the messages are positive. We all agree that the problem with secular music is when the medley is composed by a Goy, that his energy is transferred through the music. Here all the songs are original compositions and all the messages are positive. Musical "Style" has never been the problem with goyish music; it's the tune of a goy which is the problem. Most Nigunim we sing today are the same "style" as old Russian folk songs. All Sephardic music is the same "style" as Arabic or Middleastern music. Classical Jewish music today is the same "style" as secular music from the 60's.

In fact, I feel confident to say that our music is spiritually healthier to listen to then most "Jewish Music" on the market today. Contrary to popular belief, a large percentage of that music is actually purchased or copied from secular musical sources. I must conclude that this music is definitely the furthest thing from treif.

To address the issue of mainstream frum kids listening to this, I
would agree they should continue listening to Chassidish Nigunim, but such a production is needed for many others. We are not the first group to produce "non-Jewish styled" music (although there really is no such thing as "Jewish Style" music). There are many other artists out there who have been making such music for years (i.e. Piamenta, Moshe Yess, David Lazzar, Dr. Laz, Oif Simchas, etc...).

I am confident that this production will inspire many people in a
positive way.

you knwo its so true starting wiht "kosher videos" really lead to a little more here and there...but once you reach a certain level...its just hard..obviously i wouldnt be able to stop in one day bec then it would be like a diet.. ..

the same here with their "chassidishe" music- it's a step into opposite direction. and this thread only proves it.
someone compares them to holy nigunim. (of cause the music written by the guys who dress chassidish must be very holy)
someone compares them to invention of mivtzoim.

but nobody compares " Piamenta, Moshe Yess, David Lazzar, Dr. Laz, Oif Simchas, etc." to nigunim and nobody claims them to be chassidish. they are for outreach. and "going" belongs to the same group of music for a non frum or morden ortho crowd. period.

if you want to listen to this- fine- it's your personal decision. but don't claim them to be a must for all bochurim and girls, that it will make bochurim more chassidish- it will not. it will make them less chassidish maybe. (if i can listen to this- why can't i listen to other rock cds out there)

about the statement from the makers of the "going nowhere".
this is a marketing tool- they market their cd as "going chassidish" (otherwise lubavitchers will not buy it), they put this photo of someone becoming chassidish in 3 easy steps- but in reality - the cd is on step 1 or 2. But step 3 will not happen. they wish it will...
teens don't have expirience to make a difference b/w what the product is and what it's marketed for. they trust the guys and beleive every word they say.

Oh - I didn't realize this was the "beat" played in the Bais Hamikdash. My mistake

It's the idea of borrowing music - every era, every culture has different music styles, I didn't realize that having a good beat made it a problem, I thought the idea that it was 'borrowed' from goyishe music was the problem.

I fear you are introducing them to a type of music that they never have heard or enjoyed before, and may just increase their appetite for more - regardless of the lyrics.

The bochurim are counselors, they are the ones who told me about the Goin'Chassidish cd in the first place, my young teen son asked me yesterday (nothing is a coincidence) "if the music has clean lyrics can I start listening to goyishe music" Obviously I would like to introduce clean JEWISH music and the 'beat' is important to him. He listens now to nichoach and Yossi Karduner and a chassidishe rock mix my brother made (like 'ye'hay'). But is expressing an interest in 'outside' music. I'm glad I can nip it in the bud. We have little to choose from in our home, modern music-wise.

I know the producer of Goin' Chassidish.

He learned in a very chassidishe yeshiva and has been closely involved in shlichus practically all his life. He's done travelling theaters for mivtzoim purposes and has been a counselor in camp.

The producer of Goin' Chassidish put out his CD based on a lot of success. As posted many times earlier, the songs are original compositions, NOT taken from goyishe music and as in history in every culture, Jewish music has imitated the style of the goyishe music in that time.

When you're in chinuch, you look for things that worked well in the past and use it again. This is certainly the case regarding Goin' Chassidish. I was a teacher this past year in a mesivta that had some boys who have been exposed to a lot of what's out there. They had pre-published copies of some of the songs on the CD and they enjoyed listening to it.

I think listening to songs about Goin' Chassidish sure beats songs about intimacy, violence and drugs. And I hope this bochur keeps up his good work.

Regarding bochurim being involved in shlichus when they're young, the Rebbe took that responsibility on himself personally when he sent people out on shlichus. I've seen many bochurim growing up on shlichus who came out far more chassidish than others due to the Rebbe's brachos.

And my last post (BL"N) on the topic is (for those that are following and understanding what I wrote on this topic): IMVHO, some of the lyrics are chazir treif and will not bring anyone to increase yiras shomayim. What has been accomplished is, that a certain type of music will become kosher by some that otherwise would never have listened to that type of music (as attested to by someone before), which may eventually bring them to listen to "authentic" rap/ rock and roll etc. - types of music which anyone with a bit of hergesh will (or should) know is not conducive for yiras shomayim.
(I am not discussing whether it is appropiate for "mekurovim", day school kids etc. - though in my opinion some of the lyrics are not appropiate for anyone).

In any case, GC is a different Inyan completely, being that the music is composed by the Bochurim, it's just that the style is Goyish.

I do, however agree with the posters who feel that for kids who up until now listened only to regular Jewish music, it's a step in the wrong direction.

st, Simon Jacobson is BH not the Rebbe, nor anywhere close, and his opinions do not represent the Rebbe. I'm stating this very, very mildly.

jewgal, there is a lot of wishful thinking going on here. Yes, even the eldest of Shluchim need to protect themself - and that's the key. They can protect themself, or their friends may help them. Teenagers cannot protect themself. Take the most chasidishe bochur or girl and put them in a slightly tempting situation or simply take them out of Yeshivah or school, and they need protection. Age and experience give more conviction. Just because someone has made the decision to lead a Chasidishe life does not mean that it will be automatic in every given situation.

Let me put it this way: How many good Bochurim are there who while in yeshivah will use most of there time wisely in learning, yet while on vacation a much smaller percentage actually sits and learns? How many will dress differently in camp, and not always in proportion to the campers' excitement? How many chadishe girls, what percentage, will occasionally pick up a book lying around, or even watch a movie - a clean one?

It's simple - the conviction is weakened under certain situations, and protection is needed.

You are still at a point in your life where you would like to see the world through rosy glasses. You're forgetting one thing - according to Chasidus, only Elokus can be viewed with rosy glasses. The world is evil and difficult. (maaseh olam hazeh kasheh urshoim govrim bo.) In Tomchei Tmimim, anyone who had read a secular book was expelled immediately - no questions asked. There was no question of using them out for the good - because some things have no good, at least for us.

I meant this:I heard this first-hand from a person who asked the Rebbe in Yechidus if it is permissible to take non-Jewish tunes and put Jewish words to them. (What used to be very common in camp songs etc.)

The Rebbe's answer (approximate lashon):

Tunes that are "neutral" can be elevated to Kedushah. But tunes that were used for "Pritzus" [and the Rebbe added the English translation "indecency"] should not be used for Kedushah.

The problem with that answer is that A) it's to a specific person, B) memories are hazy at best, C) when an entire genre (such as rock n roll) is pritzus, then what the Rebbe says about tunes may apply to the entire genre.

On top of all that, I truly hold their disclaimer that they borrow nothing from actual rock tunes for their songs. They may not even realize it, or it may be disingenious, but I'm sure at least parts of songs are taken from elsewhere.

Jewgal, you're confusing a General Medium with a specific way of expressing one's self with in the said Medium.
L'mushel, Music is a Medium, Yidden use music in their Avoidah
But Goyishe Music is a way of expressing one's self in the medium of Music which is not appropriate for us.

There is a suggestion here, probably valid, that 'styles' of music are what makes the difference.
If a music 'style' is designed to get a person shaking their body inappropriately then the music is probably inappropriate. If the music is designed to heighten sexuality then the music is definitely inappropriate. If the music is designed to heighten spirituality.......

While I hear the points being made speaking out against our tendencies to be "skeptics", it should be noted that this is what keeps klal yisrael safe. In a way it is good to be wary of new and modern invention. Because there are so many things out there that are against our values, we need to really inspect things before deciding that they are appropriate.

Is everything treif? absloutely not...but there is plenty that is, and we would be wise to have a skeptical attitude before being absolutely sure that these "new" innovations are kosher.

I wonder, aside from the critics here at Chabadtalk, are there any Rabbanim who disagree with the whole "Goin C" CD?

I haven't seen any psak ruling by any Rav or anything posted in public opposing the CD. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Until then, I still don't think it's right or fair to put the group and their ideas down.

Lubavitch has never needed Rabbonim to pasken or public announcements to have the proper hergesh for what is right and wrong. In fact, when public announcements are made, it is often the best proof that the particular cause has been lost.

I haven't seen a "ruling" (if a ruling applies to this issue at all) supporting it either, so what does it show?

I am sure that it has occured to more than one person that the very title, "Goin' Chasidish" is an oxymoron, which exposes the inanity of its bizarre and barren attempt at synthesizing the crazy and the classic.

I think I understand now.
1.If it is fun, it must be kosher--glatt kosher no doubt--Chasidishe shechita no less.
2. Becoming frye is an instaneous transformation, and to suggest that music can have a subtle but real influence in the slippery slope is absurd.

Thanks for setting me straight; now I can let it go. Whew!

do you let your kids listen to piamenta? almost every one of their songs are origanaly goyish, including asher boro, kol hamisameach, vichulu. what is the whole problem of goyeshe music? it is the hergesh of the person making the nigun that matters. how do you know what the hergaishim of these guys are the wrong hergaishim? and there songs ARE totally made up. here is the response they have printed up on there website.

"Although we have been getting lots of support regarding our new album, there are those who feel that such a production is uncalled for. It's not like rock music is something which is only in the black market and we will be the first ones to introduce such music to these teens. Anyone who has a radio, anyone who uses the internet or goes shopping in the mall has access to such music and the reality is, huge numbers of our children are engaging in such music on a regular basis. There is nothing wrong with our songs; they are totally original tunes and all the messages are positive. To address the issue of mainstream frum kids listening to this, I would agree they should continue listening to Chassidish Nigunim, but such a production is needed for many others. I am confident that this production will inspire many people in a positive way."

i personally agree with them and i implore those parents who have children who are veering off the derech hayashar (kimuvan they are already listening to goyishe music, and even "schlock rock") to not only allow them to listen, but help them to listen to this!

This thing with the Chabad album is a major nebach, but if that's what's necessary, then so be it. With that in mind, the question is if it is really necessary, because if it's not, it's a major chilull. Also, I have a problem with giving someone else soething that you wouldn't use yourself, and this is basically the same idea.

i don't know if this is true but i heard that the klausenberger threw a lipa schmeltzer cd on the floor... and that's interesting. his songs are more jewish and the points brought out in his songs are much better (did you hear the one with the coffee?) i actually love listening to him, but youv'e gotta be fluent in that type of yiddish (deep polish)

Rapps pass this message on i want to see what ppls response are
Admin Reply: You ask a good question regarding matisyahu...
First of all Matisyahu also gets allot of negative feedback...
Second, Goin Chassidish gets many calls all the time from shluchim to preform in chabad houses. We turn down most of the offers b/c this band is only a part time thing and we dont have time to go on tour.

But you are right all in all Matisyahu may have more support than Goin Chassidish.

I think the reason may be that Matisyahu's music speaks to non religious people and and goin chassidish speaks to frum teenagers. The problem is that chabad as a whole is very good at reaching not frum people, but when it comes to speaking to our youth many people are clueless... So when someone comes along and is able to speak the lingo most people don't know what to say and they start calling it goyish. The truth is goin chassidish has the same messages which teachers have been telling these kids for years the only difference is we speak the language.

be well.

Comments: It was amazing to hear the happy to be jewish song GOIN CHASSIDISH 3 xs on the radio so far.! It's the kind of song- and the enthusiasm with the way it is done- that only CLASSICS- like the Moshiach song- are made of. The disc jockey said the he could hear people singing it after they sang out alot of niggunim in succahs all over! It also inspires people to want to learn the Yiddish language. Could you please reply with some information on classes or tapes or books that teach Yiddish.. And by learning the Yiddish language, i think we will be able to learn and understand more Torah too.Thankyou, and G-d bless you guys!

My brother is crazy about your your tape and I realy don't know why! I think it's because it sounds a lot like other Goyishe music!!! Begashmius: Your Leeriks stink! Your music stinks! Your taste for tunes is atrocius! Your voices make me wan't to barf!!!

Beruchnius: You have no Tochen! You copy the goyish music-style which you have been listening to! I flip when I read all those supportive-comments, it makes me wonder how there can possibly be so many fools out there! I guess ethier they're all shallow or they simply don't know what good music is or maybe I just happen to understand better than your average layman what is realy good!!!!!!

To all the critics:

If you don't like the music on this CD then don't buy it or listen to it....easy!!!...But why on earth do you care so much and haveto insult the singers?!?!?!(if you actually do insult them...i'm sure thay could't care less if a couple of people out of tons of people don't like their music)

So bug off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

why doesn't anyone say anything bad abt. Immpressions, bec. one of their songs is actually totally not jewish bec. it was composed by a non-jewish band and the songs on this album are composed by jewish people and have a jewish meaning which makes it JEWISH MUSIC.......

Therefore I will say to all those critics who feel like they have to put down this wonderful cd, don't be hasty in your judgement! There are many people out there who can gain tremendously from this cd! Infact I just sang the Farbrengen song to some troubled teenagers and they loved it and asked me to sing it again and again!

All those who put down this cd are reacting with Midos and not with Sechel! Think, and perhaps you'll realize that maybe you're just jealous that Reb Avrohom Rapaport has something to offer to a crowd that would simply dismiss you as a "nerd"! And besides, if you have the time to sit by the computer and type nasty messages, then you should realy be using that time to prepare for Rosh Hashono and most of all to prepare the world for Moshiach Tzidkenu Yavo Veyigalenu Bimhera Beyomenu Amen!!! http://www.efreeguestbooks.com/smilies/wink_new.gif

Name:Contemperary ChosidComments:I don't understand how a bachur can possibly gain from this type of music! Every bachur whom I ask about this cd says to me, "It's not treif, but way too rocky." Why can't we do things "Vee amol"! I learned in Y.O.E.C. in California and every year they would bring Reb Mendel Futerfas a"h to farbreng and this is how he described the seder every day in Tomchei Tmimim: 7:00-9:00 Chasidus. 9:00-11:00 Davening. 11:00-7:00 Nigleh. 8:00-10:00 Chasidus. 10:00-1:00 Krias Shma Al Hamita! Now this is what we should strive to become, like the Chasidim in the past and not like the Goyim of today! Teach bachurim the style of true chasidim, don't introduce your "vilde" music!!!

At any rate, I give you a lot of brachos that your next cd will be extremely "Chassidishe..." with all the the true Chassidishe ingredients. Good luck and Brocho Vehatzlocho!!!

Comments:HEY GUYS!! I MUST SAY THAT I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR CD. OF COURSE YOU KNOW THAT I WAS A MONGOLIAN WAR MONGER MANY CENTURIES AGO. YOU MUST ALSO KNOW THAT A GERMAN GROUP MADE A SONG ABOUT ME. NEXT THING YOU KNOW MBD IS SINGING "YIDDEN!" TO THE TUNE OF IT! HOW DARE HE? HOW DARE www.AVRAHAMFRIED.COM BE THE ONLY ONES TO SAY ANYTHING?
NOW LOOK, IF ANYONE SAYS YOUR STUFF SOUNDS "GOYISH," -WHICH IT DOES NOT- WOULD THEY SAME PEOPLE NOT LISTEN TO MBD? OR AVRAHAM FRIEDS' "DON'T HIDE FROM ME'? - WHICH REALLY DOES NOT SOUND "JEWISH." OR HOW ABOUT PIAMENTAS "SIMAN TOV"? CERTIANLY NO ONE WOULD USE THE INTERNET AND STILL CLAIM THAT THESE SONGS ARE "TRAIF." BUT SUDDENLY YOU GUYS HAVE SOMETHING WITH TOICHEN AND NO NON-JEWISH INFLUENCES, AND THEY HAVE SHEVIRAS HAKAILIM!! MY G-D! IF ANYONE ONLY KNEW THIS, WHAT WOULD THEY SAY? DONT THEY KNOW THAT YOU GOT APPROVEL FROM VARIOUS RESPECTED RABBIS?
IT IS HIGH TIME FOR THESE SELF-RIGHTEOUS HOLIER-THEN-THOU'S TO TAKE A SERIOUS LOOK AT WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN DRINKING (CHALAV ACHUM?!?!?!) OR LISTENING TO.

GOOD LUCK

the most idiotic compilation of comments on a single webpage that iv'e ever seen.

i'm still trying to figure out what's so controversial about that CD (i don't like it persnoally and neither does it have to much to offer... but c'mon - like someone posted above - what about MBD and piamenta?)

Hiskashrus
07-19-2005, 07:10 PM
no. absolutely not, i think the cd is kinda cute.. but not to my taste - i don't like that kind of 'punk-rock' as they call it. i'm more into techno-style stuff. i don't think the words have to much tochen - but it's ok and if you like that kind of music then it's ok.

all i was saying is that the comments on that website are pretty idiotic - just flaming at each other without any logic (at least not to my megushamdike eyes - maybe iv'e got to open them )

what they are doing (going chassidish) is following the traditions of the machane menachem camp (T.N.Z.B.H) veda"l

the lyrics are pretty shallow and the music's not my speed. but i don't see why it's necessary to go flaming them on their website! it's hurtful and rude to insult something somebody has worked hard on to their face.

oh well... it's back to boring and limited acapella music  (although i'm listening to kol zimra (the 5th loop today) and i'll tell you it's better than some "actual" music.

btw, the chevra acapella is the worst production eli gerstner has ever made (except simcha, which is done pretty nicely)... but then again, maybe it's just not my style

I would believe it's necessary when I see the list of Mashpi'im who have declared it so. The decisions of a bunch of bochurim are worthless in and of itself.

Good point Bittul! Who exactly are those Mashpiim that support a song with lyrics like, "cough choke splat someone barfed on the floor"?
