Is it permitted to enter a Reform Temple hall, or the hall of a church, if the hall is totally separate from the place of worship, and if the purpose of the gathering there is non-sectarian, but it's on the Temple or church grounds?
1) Is it considered a form of endorsement of heresy or avoda zara?
2) Is it perhaps ma'aris ayin that people can see you entering the complex, and they might think that you're going to the "sanctuary" or the church proper, ch"v?
I seem to recall that the voting in Crown Heights has taken place in the ******ian school on Brooklyn, and the Rabbonim reportedly ruled that voting there is permitted, but would the same apply in a hall adjacent to a church?
Would it make a difference if the hall is occasionally used for worship, but not on a regular basis?
Another concern is that one should distance oneself from idolatry or heresy in general, and this might be coming "too close for comfort."
