B"H
I just came back from EY., it was beyond AMAZING!
While i was in Yerushalayim and Tzfat, there were a lot of tour groups, with a LOT of searching Yidden! Yet there were no bochurim or bochurettes doing Mivtzoim! I was so upset that i didn't have NeSheK on me to hand out!
So, while I was leaving the airport, there is a Chabad stand that offers everything from T'fillin to cookies, lol. So I told the Rabbi who working there how there really needs to be more Mivtzoim in thos places and everything. He looked at me like I fell off the moon and said "what do you want me to do about it? Send my guys over to Tzfat?" I was apauld!
He said how the bochurim are learning all day and only do Mivtzioim on fridays-but there are not that many tourists there then, and besides i saw tons of bochurim walking through the streets of Tzfat on weekdays!
In any case, i was really surprised about it all, and i want to know your oppinions and suggestions on this.

Funny story, I also just came back from E'Y b'h ka'h (I was on one of those birthright groups), and I still can't figure how Kashrus works in Israel for Lubavitchers. Only Badatz  Mehadrin also  none of it made much sense... Do you know anything about Kashrus there?

Btw I do not recommend to anyone to climb up Motzada and back down and then going to the Dead Sea (Yam HaMelach) all in one day. It burns a lot. It was still awesome fun though.

Maybe.

I don't think you'd call it frum.

And everything is Cholov Yisroel?

What did you think about the Mivtzoim sitch?
I dunno, are you sure you were there long enough to see Mivtzoim going on? Anyways in New York most Bochurim go on Fridays only so I can't really agree...

So you were able to do Mivtzoim on your birthright tour-did you? :) I saw a birthright group up by Kibbutz Neot Mordechai--the shoe store/factory of neot...
Anything Bedatz or Mehadrin is Cholov Yisroel.
I was there for two and a half weeks, I think that's long enough...
There are still ppl. in NY doing Mivztoim on other days of the week, but in EY, there are tons of Yidden every day travelling etc...it's totally different.

I don't do "Mivtzoim". I went with my friend in NY though the week before.

Not that this thread is getting personal or anything, but that probably was my bus by Teva/Neot or whatever. I stayed on the bus ;)

Anything Bedatz or Mehadrin is Cholov Yisroel.

I think also anything not Badatz or Mehadrin...

Whatever, I don't know their situation.

A few months ago I read something extremely shocking.

A group of American bochurim (Lubavitch) went to Israel for mivtzoim. Where did they go?

Bnei Brak.

Ah, here: "Singing & dancing in Newark airport as 8 Bochurim from Oholei Torah depart on Shlichus to Bnei Brak." http://shmais.org/images/largepics/left_423.jpg Can you believe it?

And you will probably be even more shocked when you find out that there is a Lubavitch Yeshivah in Bnei Brak, and that is where these Bochurim went.

And you will be further shocked by the fact that the Chief Rabbi of Bnei Brak is Rabbi Landau who is a Lubavitcher (and is Rov of the Lubavitch Shul in B"B).

.I was In E"Y during the summer, and i saw alot of mivtzoim going on, at the Tachaneh Hamerkazit and at the Kosel, however i wouldnt put bochurim in Netanyah to do mivtzoim.
Btw i went up masadah (in the cable car) and by the time i was 20 minutes walkin around, i was so hot annd tired, the water that i took with me in the morning which solid ice, was hot enough to make a cup of tea with it!

That doesn't really bother me.

The point is: mivtzoim in Bnei Brak. Tell me. How many secular Jews are you going to find there to put tefilin on? Is it really necessary to send bochurim to Bnei Brak, of all places? Why not Tel Aviv, Eilat, Ashkelon, Rishon LeZion or so?

Hello? There is a Yeshiva there and the Bochurim go there for the YESHIVA!
If people go there on mivtzoiem there must be a reason (I doubt the litvaks that don't put on tefillin would want it from us :D )There are shluchim in the other places mentioned.
Tell me, Daniel, do you know that there is need for mivtzoiem in:
Williamsburg (I believe there is a part time shlich there now)
Boro Park (they make a large Pesach seder every year)
Flatbush (I know people who go on mivtzoiem there every week)
Crown Hieghts (And no it's no becuase of our own, r'l)

There are plenty of mivtzoim everywhere. My daughter learned in Tzfat and of course they went on mivtzoim. There is no need to send people there because they have one of the largest kehilos of Anash in the world. They also have a humungeous yeshiva and other mosdos.

As to kashrus, it is not simple at all. Is the wine shitas Beis Yosef? Today most is. Meat only Lubavitcher shchita or also R' Landau, Badatz and R' Rubin. The rest are not generally eaten by Israeli Lubavitchers for good reasons. There is cholov akum in some major companies, like Elite and Tnuva, but much less than before. Milchiks needs a good hechsher. Veggies too, maaser, orla and shmitta. In regular foodstuff there should be Badatz, R' Landau or R' Rubin. Since mehadrin became popular nearly everybody adds the word to his hechsher. There is few smaller hechsherim that are good but you would have to get the list when you're there, because it changes.
