My heart yearns for you with passion like a burning fire-
Your essence so tempting... for it my soul will expire-
Just to have a taste of your holy supernal wisdom-
Embrace me with your love and grant me true freedom -
Release me from the chains of ego and selfness-
Let my soul be nullified before your kindness-
For only then can my soul be at ease-
Quenched of its thirst and truly be at peace-

BS"D Wow. I used to write poetry.
Unfortunately, there are people who could/would post things on a thread like this but choose not to because the subject matter is too personal (even though you think you are anonymous, you never know... and anyway, is there really anyone here who is completely anonymous? I'll bet at least one person in the world knows everyone's true identity).

well... obviously - if its something very personal - no one would post it- but if thats not the case i dont see why it should be a big deal-
its a nice to share - especially if your the type who appreciates these things..
personally, i feel that People shouldnt be so freaked out about if G-d forbid someone might guess who they are- its not like you are caught in the action doing something wrong :D
here's an original poem by an anonymous member of this forum (i.e. not me)
Does it hurt you, does it bother, does it kill, does it wear?
Does it gnaw and scratch and claw, does it evoke a tear?
Does your heart hurt to beat, does your body ache to fight?
Does your brain refuse the news and your eyes refuse the sight?
Or
Do you feel apathetic, do you stop to even feel?
Do you pretend nothing's wrong, or worse-that its not real?
Do you cry lizard tears, do you sigh an empty breath?
Do you interrupt your routine with thoughts of daily death?
Does your hand reach out to grasp, a prayer book that's wet?
Or do you reach for you credit card, do your hardest to forget?
When it all bottles down, its this question, not another
Are you ready to admit that they're your sister and your brother?
and here's another one from our anonymous poet:
My Dance
I dance to the beat
Of a drum no one can hear
A tune that echos in my bones
Glowing in the air
Some people wonder as I dance
Cause they cant hear the beat
That fills my heart with joy
And swirls around my feet
They stop to stare and wonder
Expressions differing
Some shocked, surprised, amazed
Its all the same thing
I move and walk and cry
And I do it cause I know
That I’m dancing my own dance
Be it fast; be it slow
I will not change I cannot change
My essence is the tune
Don’t try to dance my dance of life
That will be your ruin
Search deep inside
Past the mask you wear
To the place you hide
Your hope and fear
And find the song
That suits you best
There is no wrong
Cause there is no test
Its your life
Dance it.

(until recently, this was part of my signature)
You have power, you have worth
There is a task, made just for you
No one before you on this earth
Can accomplish what you'll do
You have a flare, go spread it forth
Though it involves much sweat and toil
Child of G-d, set on this earth
Go and elevate its soil

Some sing of hunger
Of hunger for bread
Some sing of thirst
Of thirst for wine
Your thirst is for
Thirsting for G-d
When I sing your song
I wish it was mine

I used to be
The angel
I used to be that one
The one to raise my hand
The one to understand
The one to always listen
And keep trouble far away.
The crises are my own
But they are all to blame
I may seem still an angel
But I hide in shame
The backtalk in my head
And the thoughts that think in bed
And you may not agree
And you may look down
But I once was the angel
And perhaps I yet may be

Looking through some old papers...
Here's some poetry I wrote when learning Tanya in high school:
Keli (a vessel)
A blackened log
At the site of a fire
Scorched, burned out
Steaming hot
It lies now stilled.
A memory jog
A thought inspire
Create a doubt
Is it or not
Its purpose fulfilled?
A sudden strike
Upon charred wood
Sparks shoot near
To soon die
On resistant soil.
A feeling just like
Finally understood
An idea clear
A concept high
After much toil-
To tenaciously hold
The fleeting grasp
The knowledge sure
Which dies away
Like a spark-
To banish cold
A flame to gasp
To life before
The soil may
Ally with the dark.
A nest is made
Bit of fire grows
Steadily here
Igniting fuel
Flickering sweet.
Concepts shall not fade
The things he knows
Remain clear-
He used a tool:
A Keli complete.

Ahava Aza (a burning love [for Hashem])
A flame strives ever higher
To dwell among the stars.
It rests not on its laurels
All stopping, pausing bars.
Its goal never completed
Chained to its fuel below
It cannot reach above it
But frustration it won't show.
Never a sigh of complaint
Never gives up in regret.
Only resurgent energy-
I will reach there yet!
Like an Almana chained hopelessly
To a husband whom no one can trace-
My Neshama attempts to reach above
The world's Gashmius race.
Burning all available material
Mitzvos and Torah, life fill;
To let me reach higher and higher
To cling to Hashem through His Will.
To hug Hashem, to hug the King
To create His home in this world.
Where He can live comfortably
All His Kedusha unfurled.
Steadily reaching upward,
Like the tide, like a seiche-
Thus rushes my love
Ahava Aza Kerishfei Eish.
Almana = widow
Neshama = soul
Gashmius = materialism
Kedusha = holiness
Kerishfei Eish = like flames

Fire and Water
Fire always strives higher
Water seeks to drop
Neither happy with their present level
Both want the bottom- or the top.
Ahava will not be satisfied
With a love that's cut and dried.
Bittul will not be content
With a lowliness whose power is spent.
Ahava always longs for more,
Bittul always eliminates "I".
Neither remain on their present level;
Both in an Ofen of Kedusha- fly.
Ahava = love
Bittul = self-nullification
Ofen = way
Kedusha = holiness

Lo Avado (One who does not serve Him)
If you go to the Statue of Liberty
If you enter the Golden Door
If you, along with thousands
If you climb
Climb slowly, patiently
Climb steadily, calmly
Climb up-
Up its heights
Along with thousands
All making the journey
To the top-
If you watch
Where you are standing
Where you climb
You will notice
After a set number
A number of steps
You reach a landing
A resting point
To pause,
To wait,
To regain energy-
To continue the strenuous climb
To the top.
In your Avoda
You always climb
Life stands not still
It's either up or down
But if you try hard
You can create
A landing.
The Mara Shechora
Enjoys serving Hashem
Needs not strive
To serve Him.
He enjoys the Mitzvos
And stumbles not-
But is still considered
A Lo Avado.
Why?
Why should this person
Who meticulously fulfills
Most stringent standards
Of Torah and Mitzvos
Be labeled ignominiously
A Lo Avado
One who does not serve?
The true service
Avodas Hashem
Must be Avoda
Beyond one's Teva
Beyond one's natural instincts
Just as one who reviews
One hundred times
Cannot be compared
To one who reviews
One hundred and one.
The landing is only
A safety net
So a fall
Cannot be far
Not into a void.
A Mara Shechora
Can become
A Mara Leveina
By putting in
Just a drop of effort
The drop that makes
The cup overflow
Just a drop beyond...
Avoda = work, service
Mara Shechora <-- I don't have a good definition
Avodas Hashem = service of G-d
Teva = nature
Mara Leveina <-- I don't have a good definition

Isarusa Deliela (An awakening from above)
A flash of lightning
Could run the earth
With its power
For about a year
The scientists say.
But curiosity tightening
Why isn't there worth
In harnessing a shower
Its energy here
To provide for us today?
An answer unknown
But a parallel direct
Bring this idea so new
As a lesson to use
All our days...
Rebeiim have shown
No need to introspect
That for a Jew
A lightning fuse
In many ways-
When Hashem sees
That one goes lax
In following His laws
Hashem assists
And sends;
Like a refreshing breeze
Reminding not to relax
Not to pause-
A lightning bolt twists
And bends.
An illuminating flash
To light the way back
A helpful glow
A difference to make
Help is lent.
With this shock to rehash
A sign clear, the knack
Is that to know
Advantage to take
Of the Isarusa Deliela sent.

Shtei Nefashos (Two souls)
I am a divided self
I am two
Distinct entities.
I have two sides
Battling furiously
To take control
Of my faculties.
One strives for good
The other, evil.
But like two kings
They both fight
Not for compromise
Not for shared power
Not for equal halves-
Both want all.
They will not content
Themselves with less.
Bitter is
The battle they wage.
Strategically they attempt
To convince me
To follow their rule.
The evil one's tactic
Is to lure me
With dreams of fun
With promises of enjoyment
With pleasures
With excitement
With adventure.
The other one tells me
That pleasure is fleeting
To reciprocate the love
Of Hashem who created me.
Like a beggar elevated
To a high position
Unworthy one
Who becomes a general
Hashem has elevated
Lowly me-
Should I not follow
In His path?
Neither side will rest
Until it has complete control
And I, the object of the battle
Must choose
Choose between
My Nefesh Habehami
And my Nefesh Eloki.
Nefesh Habehami = animal soul
Nefesh Eloki = G=dly soul

Ki Karov (For it is close)
Before Moshe Rabbeinu
Left this world below
He taught to his students
A phrase for them to know-
Ki Karov Eilecha
This Davar is very close to you
In your mind and heart
For you to do-
And the Torah is Nitzchi
It is not a declaration
That only applies
To Moshe's generation.
Our own experiences
Seem contradictory
Over all our desires
To acheive victory?
For love of Hashem
And worldly desire
Cannot co-exist
Like water and fire.
Can to overturn our nature
Nullify earthly pleasure
Be considered easy
In any measure?
Indeed, our holy Rabanim
A question here do bring:
-Moshe refers to Yirah-
Is fear such a small thing?!
If to Moshe's statement
This was their reaction-
How much more so with love,
A more difficult action!
Moreover, only a Tzadik
Has control over his heart
So does the Torah address
But a small part?
In the phrase of Ki Karov
La'asoso- to do it
Is placed out of order
A lesson through it:
Levavcha Laasoso
The love only need be
Enough for Laasoso
To cause activity.
Such a love may be hidden
In the depths of the Leiv
Just strong enough
To cause one to behave.
Arousing such love
Does not require much pain
It can easily be accomplished
With nothing but a brain.
For though his heart may not be
His mind is under his reign
And at any second he can think
Of anything- it's his domain.
If he will but contemplate
On the greatness of Hashem
In his mind, at least, he will create
-More precious than a gem-
A love of Hashem, to cling to Him
Through Mitzvos, Torah study
Tevuna- a type of love
Accessible to everybody!
Ki Karov Eilecha = for it is close to you
Davar = thing
Nitzchi = everlasting
Yirah = fear
Levavcha Laasoso = [in] your heart that you should do it
Leiv = heart
Tevuna = intellectual love

Here is a special one.
There's A Time I Can Remember
There's a time I can remember standing in front of you,
oh, what a splendor when you told me what to do.
This picture in my mind that gives me a brand new day;
every time I look to find it shows me the way.
When I see your picture on the wall
I think about the day when I will see you
and the message that you gave to us all
to help us live our lives through.
You're everything I want to be,
you have had such an influence on me
that every time I turn around I see
your eyes staring right at me.
That smile of yours etched deep in my heart,
it's the answer that will never break us apart
and the dream that I have of standing right next to you,
I pray to Hashem every day that it will happen very soon.
(Written about the Rebbe by a 13 year old boy).

"I wish for you..."
Comfort on difficult days,
Smiles when sadness intrudes,
Rainbows to follow the clouds,
Laughter to kiss your lips,
Sunsets to warm your heart
Gentle hugs when spirits sag,
Friendships to brighten your being,
Beauty for your eyes to see,
Confidence for when you doubt,
Faith so that you can believe,
Courage to know yourself,
Patience to accept the truth,
And love to complete your life.
G-d Bless you!
I asked the Lord to bless you
As I prayed for you today
To guide you and protect you
As you go along your way....
His love is always with you
His promises are true
No matter what the tribulation
You know He will see us through
So, when the road you're traveling on
Seems difficult at best
Give your problems to the Lord
And G-d will do the rest..;)

~Now & Forever~
I stood at the station,
watching the trains go by,
I waited till u left me,
until you kissed me goodbye,
Your arms around me,
like a blanket of love,
G-d was shining on us from above,
I knew you wouldn't come back,
You were leaving me in the darkness so deep, and so black,
Your children in both your arms,
cherishing this last moment without any harms,
We stood behind the yellow line,
as you boarded the train,
Our souls crying with such terror ,and so much pain,
The train started moving,
We ran as fast as we could,
to catch a last glimpse of your face,
Your sweet ,lovable smile ,the only thing left to embrace,
As we looked into the distance ,your train had disappeared,
To the war you had gone so brave and so unfeared,
I love you my darling my soul and yours together,
I know you will always be in my heart now and forever.

A Butterfly
A man found a cocoon for a butterfly .One day a small opening appeared ,he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through the little hole .Then it seemed to stop making any progress .It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and could go no farther. Then the man decided to help the butterfly.
He took a pair of scissors and snipped the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then emerged easily .Something was strange. The butterfly had a swollen body and shriveled wings.T he man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected at any moment ,the wings would expand to be able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened . In fact ,the butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body and deformed wings. It was never able to fly.
What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand ,was that the restricting cocoon and struggle required for the butterfly to get through the small opening of the cocoon are G-d's way of forcing fluid from the body of the butterfly to its wings so that it would be ready for flight once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon. Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life.
If G-d allowed us to go throughout our life without any obstacles ,that would cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Not only that, we could never fly.

*~The Cracked Pot~*
A water bearer in China had two large pots; each hung on the ends of a pole which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, while the other pot was in perfect shape and always delivered a full portion of water.
At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot arrived only half full. For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water to his house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do.
After 2 years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke to
the water bearer one day by the stream. "I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."
The bearer said to the pot, "Did you notice that there were
flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, and I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you've watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are,
there would not be this beauty to grace our house."
Moral : Each of us have our own unique flaws. We are all cracked pots, but it is the cracks and flaws we each have, that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what he or she is, and look for the good in each one of them.
Best wishes to all of you...:)

CLOSE FRIENDSHIP
Hungry for your love
I sit
I sob
And pray to you
Accept me like it was once before
Tell me how to live
Beg I
I cry
How my world should be
Correctly I want.
Intimidation to be
Washed away
I'd outwardly say
All that goes on in me
My life, My heart,
My innermost thoughts;
I'm eaten my your love.

Forgotten Hands
By: Et Ha'aom
Hundreds died but they reached their goal,
The victories prize was worth every soul.
They cried out they swore not to forsake,
To the heavens, their cries reached Im Eshkacheich.
This cause that they lived for they died for as well,
Every day they were without it was in itself a living hell,
But now it was ours, standing proud, standing tall,
The whole world saw we were one with our wall.
They understood back then, the importance that it held,
To touch, to kiss, to pray, caused their hearts to swell.
How then their children, how came it to be
How, just stones like any other, is all that they see.
Ludicrous, lies, forgeries, fakes,
They care not for the land, nor the name it did take,
Israel … Israel? Canaan is all they see,
They say, “What’s in a name?” but not so by me.
Land for peace, what a ludicrous thought,
Why, even in their schools hate and terror is taught.
The lies that they blaspheme...” negotiate”..., heard every day,
The body count alone shows us that death is their way.
How the children of those who gave their lives, gave their all,
Sit with the terrorists and readily give up our wall!
Yerushalaim???!!! How could they give even one stone?
We cannot give the land where stood Hashem’s home!
Life of our life, soul of our soul,
My heart resides in this land of ole.
They forget themselves why don’t they see?
Im Eshkacheich Yerushalaim Tishkach Yemini.

I’m going on a diet
Won’t you come and try it
Fruits are for breakfast and fruits are for lunch
Fruits are for snack and now I have a hunch
That fruits are for supper and also dessert
Any more fruits and I will go beserk.
I’m going on a diet
Oh won’t you also try it?
Together we’ll starve and we’ll kvetch and complain
Together we’ll battle to lose not to gain
Remember that beauty comes only from pain
It might keep you skinny, it won’t keep you sane
I’m going on a diet
Oh please won’t you come try it?
If you think that I’m nuts than I’ll tell you it’s true
But the goal of my life is to fit in size 2
If it works for me than it can work for you
To go on a diet’s the one thing to do.
I’m going on a diet
Don’t say another word
I know this starving process
Is really quite absurd
But then I’ll be so skinny
But then I’ll be so thin
I’ll play this game of diets
And this time I will win!!!!

Talking about diets...I happen to be in shape. (Round is a shape.)
farshtuptemench
10-02-2003, 06:18 PM
talking bout shape, words can shape a persons life. Here's a poem I wrote bout the power of words.
Words can hurt and blemish.
They can easily make you cry.
But the words that have most power.
Are the words thee said by.
Can thy words hold much caliber?
Do mine make thee feel?
Perhaps the tears streaming down a face
By thy words can be healed.
Like a potion in a science lab
Let accidentally out of its trap.
An entire world can be destroyed
By one tiny mishap.
Words are like the potion
Your mouth the trap unwatched.
The demolishon of ones heart
Can be by few careless words hatched.
But words can make you happy.
They can make your friends.
No need to fight with them
To then use them to make amends.
A soothing word, a gentle word
Can wipe away the tears.
They can melt a heart of stone
And take away all fears.
So when your mouth does open
You feel an urge to speak
Guide your lips and tongue
And apathy don't seek.

btw, hisht., did you ever share those poems with your tanya teacher? They're a beautiful expression of your learning and trying to integrate the lessons.
Does anyone know where I can find a picture of the three soldiers with their arms around each other, leaning on the kosel? I wrote a poem about the picture and I would share it but I want the picture first.
Here is the non-personal part of a poem I wrote recently:
The perfect gown, searched for and found in a gemach
As perfect as it is for the one hundred other people who wear it
The flowery up-do,
With more hairspray and pins, coming at every angle, than hair
The makeup everyone says is perfect
Even it it’s blotchy and too blue
The rosy cheeks waiting for the lipstick-kisses
Always accompanied with a gushy “Im yirtzah Hashem by you!”
“Smile at the kallah, stand near your sister,
Chin up, nose down, flutter the eyes for that perfect picture”
All this sounds lovely,
The idyllic sister, part of the idyllic family,
At a picture-perfect wedding
...

I really like the rhyme scheme and way Jude wrote one of her poems and so i copied the rythm and wrote it to fit what i feel like.
Can you listen, can you follow, can you hear, takie it in?
Can you understand the lesson; appy concentration?
Does your mind always wander when you want it to stay put?
Do you want to pay attention-always looking in the book?
Do you try at all to get it, do you even come to school?
Do you work all that you can to break every single rule?
Or do you push and push yourself to do the best you can,
Yet no matter what you do you have no attention span?
So you become apathetic and you now no longer feel
You close up all the inside and put on an outter peel
You seem you care no longer to put your brain to wokr
But that the superficial you; something you've got to shirk
So no matter how hard you try to cover up that hole
Inside you'll still by dying to fulfill your truest goal
And although the outside says: don't bother with my head,
Listen to your insides and send it back to bed.

If I were an angel
Way up in the sky
I shouldn't much care to be loud or shy
I shouldn't care much to be shy or loud
I'll be G-d's angel
And I will be proud
With wings on my back
And a dress made of silk
A warm jacket and gloves and a hat colored milk
A wand in my hand
That will sparkle and shine
The problems that arise,
I'll make them all fine

I know something so improtant and I hope you know it, too
Something very useful that helps to pull me through
You climb up as a winner when you use this useful thing
But it's hidden very deep in the makeup of your being.
I know you want to hear it so you, too, can be like me
You'll feel just like a winner completely full of glee
It's using self control in a way that's hard, you know
To jump over yourself, don't let others pull your toe
Although you may not win, and arguement may ensue
When you pull yourself together you'll know you've made it through
You may not get your way and you may feel let down
But you really are the winner-the one who will have grown.

Dumb-sounding is in the eye of the beholder.

I wrote one last night that is actually decent sounding. Here goes:
Ashreinu
Each day I look around and see
I look at you and then at me
I look at the world, and what they do
And then I look at the life of a Jew
And I say Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
A life so full of Torah and mitzvos
A life where each thing counts
Where, in every step you take,
You know you're being guided
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
Then I see the lives of the goyim
And the emptiness they have
My first reactions are these two-
Oysh! Ashreinu!
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
So just remember-
Every day, when you walk in the street
You are a Jew, and you should be proud
Hold your head high, live up to yourself
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
Baruch...shelo asani goy
I would like to add another-
Thank you, Hashem, for showing me the proper way
Ashreinu mah tov chelkeinu
And yes, I'm a very proud Ba'al Teshuva.

A Chassidic insomniac’s song of sleeplessness,
To a life drifting by on a sea of self-imposed illness:
Canisters of coffee consumed creating bloodshot eyes
Blithely banishing my bodies’ cries for rest unrealized
Brain boldly breaking barriers of sleep cycle, I’m anxious
Like an addict to a drug my will to stay awake is relentless
Cerebrally surfing cyberspace secretly searching a solution,
Like a deep sea diver I delve into discussions on self-revolution,
Disillusioned by quick-picked portraits of personal confusion
Destiny driving me to drink thirstily from religious institution
Discovering Chassidus felt like spiritual electrocution
Torah’s timeless Parshiot paradigms for present experience,
Purporting ancient advice for modern day predicaments,
Its inner dimension is accessible to all without exception
Divine revelation of G-d exposed by Chabad bringing redemption
Unremittingly reciting Psalms like a pauper pleading alms before His majesty
I pray thee please lovingly pardon iniquity letting me perceive true reality
Seeing self as subject set free anxiety created by complacency
Alas I breathe relaxed at long last sleeping sound & softly

if my ramblings are worthwhile, then they should be heard.
if they are nasty and vile, they are not from my inner nerd
if they are complex and hard to distinguish between that and this, it would be the essential revelation of my nefesh hasichlis.
if they are comical, of parody and wordplay, then they are musings which enter my head hourly, or at least once a day.
if you are still reading this, and getting inspired, then please find a pillow, for it seems that you are tired

TO BE OR NOT TO BE
To be or not to be
That is the question
For as you can see
With what we have learned
I have become
Me
To be or not to be
Is completely dependent
Upon Me
Dependent upon
If I decide
To be the me I want to be
To be or not to be
The me I should be
Whether or not it seems
Like I shouldn’t be me
To be me is the greatest thing
Since sliced bread
To be or not to be
Whatever you do
You must always remember
To be faithful…to YOU
To always be the best you can
No matter what it seems to be
To be or not to be
To anyone else
That thinks that your you
Is not the right one
You can hear it, but hearken not
Be truthful to one…
To YOU

TO ACCOMPLISH
I lay awake last night,
And thought about my day,
And then I wondered where I was, for what was I to say,
If someone asked me what I did
And who I had become
And how many I had helped,
What would I have done?
And then I realized that my day, though long and hard it was,
Meant nothing if I hadn’t stopped
To help someone in need
For that is why we are here,
To stop and help each other
For to be here for ourselves alone
Is self-defeating, purpose lost, unknown
Our purpose here IS to stop, though it seems a waste of time,
And through this we accomplish more
Than we could have ever dreamed.

SCHOOL
We’ve sat here in school, for most of our years
Being taught by the teachers, and growing with peers
At the end of it all, what have we gained
Except to come back, yet once again
To a higher grade, until we are through
But is this the whole point, the whole meaning for you?
For school is not just to sit there and stare
At the teachers, the board, and stuff way out there
If you don’t really learn, if you don’t really grow, then what have you gained, what can you show?
At the end of it all, what counts the most is:
What did YOU do, and how did you use
All those long school years?
If you grew up, then good, and you’re one step ahead,
But if not you’re in trouble…don’t lay in bed…JUST DO!

Procrastination is Not Chassidish
Busily working, focused and swift
I should feel proud of me, it's true.
I'm accomplishing so much, except-
Not much of what I'm supposed to do.
OK, now. Time for rebuke.
Force myself to say the truth somehow.
Honestly please, admit to myself:
What is my avodah now?
(I'll tell you one thing, it's not writing poems on ChabadTalk...)

Very very cute...I'll tell u something, though- btw i pmed u back- i didn't write those poems on the spot- i wrote them for the school newsletter and then just copied and pasted them onto this thread tonight. They were written a couple of months ago- actually the To Be or Not To Be was written stum because I had Hamlet in my head from English class, and then I gave it to my English teacher b/c i thought she'd enjoy it...turns out I had to do an assignment just like that, lol, HP- but if I had written it for the assignment it wouldnt have been half as good and I would've gotten stuck. Just TFS.

ISKAFIYA
To hold back
I won't do
What I really want
I won't eat right away
And only a small amount
I won't say what comes to mind
The first thought
Right away
Iskafiya
Means not doing what you want
At least not right away
Holding back
If not for a long time
Then at least for a little while
That is iskafiya
To stop yourself
No matter how hard
And hold back
(Of course, this poem was not written with any iskafiya at all, since it ws written in halacha class...)

ISHAPCHA
Switching
The evil to good
Taking my taavos
And putting my koch
Into learning
Instead of talking on chabadtalk, my favorite site:cheeky:
I pick up the phone
And call a friend
Who wasn't at school
Ishapcha
Means instead of being
So excited about a trip
I'll take that excitement
And put it to use
I'll go on mivtzoim
Or teach someone
To take your desires
And use them for kedusha
That is
Ishapcha
(Of course, I can always IM my friend who's not feeling well...)

TANYA
Holding my chitas
Tightly in my hand
I open it
To learn today's Tanya
The Alter Rebbe
Speaks about Timtum Halev
Two days ago
It was about
Kavanna during davening
With each day
I love the Tanya more
It is amazing
Truly the Torah shbichsav
Of chassidus
Taking you by the hand
Thru different aspects
Of yourself
Teaching you
Exactly
How to deal with yourself
Answering
All your questions
Both unspoken
And spoken
Assauging all doubts
Showing you
How you fit
In seder hishtalshelus
Making you realize
How small you really are
Yet how much power
Hashem gave you
To affect all the worlds
All the sefiros
Because you are a Yid
You realize
How amazing
The Tanya is
You think about gadlus Hashem
And His power
And you are blown away
It is totally
Totally
Unbelievable

NIGGUN
Music is
The pen of the soul
Connecting you
to something higher
Expressing
Your very essence
Speaking
To your innermost self
Your core
Telling you to connect
Helping you
Realize, wake up
Allowing you
To realize what you know
Informing you
That you know all this
That you just have to connect
Reminding you
That all of this
You know
Telling you gently, softly,
What you thought you didn't know
But you did
Music
Elevates you
And has the power
To change oyur mind,
Your outlook, your mood
Your thoughts and desires
To change your feelings
To put machshavos in your heart and mind
To change you as a person
Music is
The most powerful
Tool
That we have
It can change you
For the better, or ch"v the opposite
Or leave you just the same
So you have to watch it
Because
It is a
Very
Powerful
Tool
It lets you know yourself
And helps you change

TO LOOK BEYOND
Looking up at the sky
Bright stars shining bright
Lighting up the night
Giving light to all
Looking down at the sand
Soft, yet slightly sticky,
Some wet, moist, some dry
Gets between your toes, unavoidably
Looking out at the ocean
Green-blue waves, with white foam
Rolling over each other
With amazing force and power
Looking in at myself
So quiet, and yet confused
I have finally found my purpose
Now all I have to do
Is connect
Looking beyond
Farther than my eye can see
My vision is blurred
I have difficulty seeing beyond today
So I trust the 20/20 vision
Of the Rebbe
IY"H I'll post the rest tomorrow....btw, hisht, I find your poems to be very inspiring.....

Verse 1
The year was 1942 in the city of Berlin
We were living in a barren flat on the northern end
All around the people cried as the days turned into years
Families were torn and lives destroyed by the hate that leads to tears
Verse 2
On a cold winter night we heard a knock at the door
Amidst the shouts and the flashing lights my wife fell to the floor
I'll never forget my daughter's scream as they tore her from my arms
And I couldn't know on that winter night I'd never see her again
Chorus
We came from the north and we came from the south
Searching for that holy land of our fathers and their sons
We bled and we cried as we answered the call
And we swore we'd never be enslaved again
Now I've grown old and wiser for my years
But I'm still haunted by my daughter's silent scream
Will I be cursed for the rest of my life
For the rest of my life will I live it in my dreams
Verse 3
They put us on the prison train called the Auschwitz Line
Nameless faces starving eyes children in the night
No one knew how many died in the camp of death and tears
But the heavens opened on that day the prison walls caved in

TEFILLA
Holding my siddur
My soul reaches up
Touching the highest heights
Saying the words
Written so long ago
Yet still so applicable today
Tefilla connects me
To my essence
To Hakadosh Baruch Hu, my source
Thinking about what the word means
How each letter counts
So too each Yid
The world over, thousands of Yidden
All say the same thing
We are all connected to each other
One whole

TEACHERS
Standing at the front of the classroom
Some scream, some talk quietly
Some yap about chassidus
Some give a mussar shmooze
Some are in atzilus
Some are just dead, with no chayus
Some mean what they say
Some are just hypocrites
Some love you and want to help you
Some are there just for the pay
What they don't realize
Is that we can tell
Why they're there, what they mean
And whether they care
And we respond in kind
If they enjoy teaching, we enjoy learning
If not, we just space or sleep
Next time you're teaching
Mean what you say, make sure your hergeshim are right
Because we know

Verse 1
Reaching deep inside your soul
Touching the essence of time
Burning like fire in your heart
Returning once again
Chorus
Awaken your soul
Remember your name and who you are
I'm calling you
From a distant shore to come home
Verse 2
Traveling through distant lands
Waiting at Messiah's Gate
Citizens without a land
No place to call your home
Chorus
Awaken your soul
Remember your name and who you are
I'm calling you
From a distant shore to come home
Verse 3
I can see forward into time
There's no reason to fear
Nothing here but love
A place to call your home
Saxophone lead
Chorus
Awaken your soul
Remember your name and who you are
I'm calling you
From a distant shore to come home

Here's one I put to a niggun:
Moshiach Tzeiten
Moshiach is here
We're greeting him now
Jump up and do something
Show you really care
You don't want to miss out
It's what life is all about
To tell the world Moshiach's finally here
Any minute now
We will see
With our gashmiyus eyes
The mikdash hashlishi
Leviyim singing shira
Kohanim doing avoda
And our Rebbe standing proud
Chorus:
And then, we'll see,
The Rebbe to us will turn,
How much did you each yearn,
What did each one of you do
To bring Moshiach Tzidkeinu
Just jump up and do it,
L'chatchila ariber, lich'sheyafutzu mayanasecha chutza,
Do what's right, and then we'll be
Standing proudly in the mikdash hashlishi
And then, we'll see....
Sorry, I don't know the name of the niggun, but IY"H I'll find that out at school tomorrow- or should I be saying today?

Just a plain poem:
MY PURPOSE
I look around and wonder
What my purpose is
Why was I put down here?
What am I meant to do?
I search inside myself
I talk to my friends
I do some thinking, soul-searching,
Rediscover who I am
Remind myself of where I stand
And where my talents lie
Where my roots are planted
Remember what my faults are
That I have to work on them
I look at the world as a whole
And see where I fit in
Discuss it with a friend
Realize who I am
And now I know my purpose
It's to be the best I can
And do G-d's will with what He gave me
To work with

WORDS
Words are the most powerful tool
We hold in our hands
With them, we can build
Or destroy
If we think properly first
They can be valuable
If we just spit them out
They can be hurtful
In one second
With one word
We have the power to change a life
Words can mend a broken heart
Or they can break a heart in two
In one split second
With very little effort
They are the most powerful tool
That we have

TIMTUM HALEV
When you just feel blah
And can't bring yourself to daven
When you feel like something
Is weighing you down
Go pick yourself up
Ignore the feeling, force yourself
To learn chassidus
Ssay chumash with Rashi
Learn Tanya, daven
Open up your heart, open up your mind
Think of how low you really are
What right do you have
To not do what you should?
Just pick yourself up
And do it

DAVENING
When you just can't daven properly
You've mumbled all the words
Remember that you're not alone
Hashem is with you
He wants to hear from you
When you're davening, you're creating
A direct connection, bechinas panim
with Hashem
You're getting your chayus
Directly from Him
Why wouldn't you want
To make the fullest use of that?
Why would you want
To end it early?
Remember this
And daven right.

POEMS
Poems do not have to have
A rhyme, reason, or method
They dont have to have punctuation
or capitals
Nor do they have to have a rhyme or beat
All they have to do is express the author
I sometimes think my poems
Aren't so good, thy're all messed up
They don't sound normal
They have no beat or rhyme or flow
Except for that of the idea
And my pen
And yet, I find
and 'twill be good
For thou to remember too
That there is one thing my poetry has
It has a method-for with all this craziness
That I spit out, I can still say this-
There is method to my madness

It has the klipa, the peel
Underneath is a burst of sweetness
So too with the world
Though we may just see the shell
We must remember
What lies beneath
So too with chassidus
Though sometimes the peel is thick
We must never forget
The kedusha inside
And that we are lucky to have

LOOK
Look around, you see
Painful things happen every day
Another bombing, someone else without a home
Another Yid hurt, another heart in two, another life shattered forever
Listen to the news, you hear
The most horrific things, getting worse by the day
The news is rarely pleasant, someone is hurt, the price went up
No one has anything positive to say on the media
Look inside, you see
More and more people confused
Not knowing which path to choose, stuck
With no idea of who they are or where they're headed
BUT
Look ahead, you'll see
The dawning of a new day, a new time
A time when all will be as it should
The revelation of G-dliness openly, in its entirety
Listen to the news, you'll hear
Between the words, between the tragedies
More miracles are happening with each day that passes
And all you have to do is pay attention
Look around, you'll see
The world is changing for the better, a time of peace approaching
At this very moment, things are happening, affecting the world positively
Making it into the place it was meant to be, with G-dliness revealed and accepted
The time of Moshiach- be part of it

CHOCHMA
Chochma is
A spark
A tiny spark
Of an idea
Not yet grasped
Still undeveloped
But still a breakthrough
An idea
After a struggle to comprehend
It comes as a relief
Eureka! I got it!
Yet if left
Undeveloped
It is easily lost
Chochma
Must be
Immediately taken
To the next level
Drawn down
Into Bina
For its potential
To be fully realized
For that is Chochma
An idea, potential
Undeveloped
Majorthinker

BINA
Bina is
An idea
Developing
Being tossed and turned
This way and that
Taken apart
And put back together
Analyzed
Sifted
Sorted
Developed
Having been a spark
Of Chochma
Grabbed, and
Slowly developed
It is now an idea
In and of itself
The necessary second step
To making the most
Of the idea from Chochma
Drawn down
And made more real
More tangible
Bina is
Potential Realized

Helping each other
Realize their potential
Each doing its own job
Yet working as a team
Knowing
That without he other
They would be incomplete

MOSHIACH
Moshiach is
Already here
Just open up your eyes
Show you really care
Don't be left behind
Stuck in a galus mindset
Live geula, talk geula
Think it, feel it
Every minute
Some people are feeling it
Some are just plain scared
Some don't want to admit it
Some really live it
Make sure you live geula
There's no reason to be scared
Learn it, live it, every minute
It's the reason why you're here
Don't forget to daven
Help another Jew
Do something worthwhile
That means something to you
Every moment's precious
Every secod couts
In these final seconds before the dawn
Make sure you've made everyone glow
Always have one thought
Make sure to remember this
If Moshiach came right now
Would I want to be doing this?

It is avoda

How can I be expected to do
All the things that you want me to
I have no energy and that is that!
I'm going back to bed
With my pillow on my head
Very very cute- I'm so not getting up
Just leave me alone
I'm not interested
But that's not my purpose here,
I still have to get up! Shux!

SIMCHA
Ivdu es Hashem b'simcha
Do everything with joy
Serve Hashem every minute
With pure happiness
Simcha poretz geder
If you're always happy
You won't have any problems
You'll be poretz all gedairim
Always have true simcha
You'll get so far in life
Jumping over any obstacles
Everything goes right
Ivdu es Hashem b'simcha
And remember that simcha poretz geder
Through everyone having simcha
We'll reveal Moshiach right now!

I'm sure you all heard about what happened in Amona earlier on in this year. Well in my school we had a whole rally about what we could do spiritually about it. We first saw video clips of what happened. I was really disturbed and the following poem is the outcome.
Amona
With a mask so expensive that so few can buy
With a strand of thick metal from which few can survive
With a chair how high you need stirrups to climb
They entered teh town with but one thought in mind
With a book so precious they sat in the homes
With a downpur of tears that dared not to let go
With a belief in Hashem way stronger than stone
They tried to protect with ever last bone
The masked people came, it was not April fool's
They beat and they plundered with their heavy tools
No head was untouched for they dared not lose
People were left lying in bloody pools
Hair wasn't counted as if attached to a head
The high chairs of horses left rivers of red
The strand of thick metal came down as they bled
"We'll leave you to die!" they heard as they fled
Only 40 people did they take in arrest
While brutal abuse others had to digest
No care in the world, it was made to a fest
The old like the young got the same red dress
People left wounded and maimed for life!
People unsure if they'll get to stay alive!
People traumatized from this part of their drive!
Weddings pushed off, all left deprived!
Wombs now made empty, unable to bear!
Girls were left - a head withough hair!
Sexual assaults the murderers dared!
Peopl unconcious but who's gonna care?
Not the one in the green with a gun in his hand
Nor the one in the office who makes all the plans
Not the one on the mountain who with hatred looks down
Neither one of the left wing who give up our land
But the one who believes and who sees what is right
The one who only with Torah can fight
Or maybe the one who lives way up there
Watching from above saying "My children, I care.
"I care what you do, I care what you say
I care how you look - please dress the right way
I care if you keep it black/white, not gray
And if you care to listen, I'll end the delay!
"I'll bring you Moshiach to save you from pain
I'll bring you Moshiach and the land you will gain
All you gotta do is jump onto my train
And you'll wake up and see it was my way of a game."

The struggle of friendship
Like two snowflakes from their different sources
That look completely apart from each other
their descent through the air was by different courses
No similarity between one another
As they drift to the ground they come closer together
Till they reach to the ground where they meet
In full glory they glow as they freeze in the weather
To stay whole is a constant compete
And as the time passes by and the temperature warms
The snowflakes die out in the heat
But they leave the ground wet as apart they are torn
It's not in them, they won't face defeat.

Once upon a morning yellow
Where teh sunshin's glory rose
Sat a golden speckled egg
Washing with the water

Silver strands were caught in the nest
They were hints to the brightness

It's so easy to fall
So tough to climb
And therefore it's easier to fall some more.
When I hit the brick wall
It feels like this time
It's useless to try yet again to reach shore.
But somehow I know
This path I take back
Becomes more familiar with each trip I take.
And somehow also
I now feel the lack
Which pushes me, forces me to try for its sake.
And somehow also
Each time I come back
I reach somehow further, some progress I make.
So somehow I know
I'm on the right track
And that this whole process is for my own sake.

Schizophrenic Me
I talk to myself in the shower
I talk to myself in bed
I sort out my problems out loud
Just to hear it be said
I hear two little voices
Then maybe a third one, too
In my head- yes, no, maybe
A whole argument ensues
I have 5 different opinions
And 3 things I want to do
Yet no will or time to do either
So I talk and write before I can do
I have so many things on my head
That I just have to let it out
And so I just talk to myself
It's the quickest, surest way to figure it out
-Unless I get confused by myself

Tznius
It's not about levushim
It's not about the men
It's not about machshavos
It's not about your friends
Tznius is a part of you
That shows your self-respect
That shows your inner essence
Not just your chitzonius aspect
It shows that there's more to you
Than just what meets the eye
That you have a depth, a meaning
And aren't going to rely
On just what shows skin-deep
And what first glance may tell
You have it, but won't flaunt it
You want to live life well
You know where you are headed
You're strong and true and free
Your inner core can show
And you can happily say, 'That's me'
You mean something, you're special
There's something more to you
You're deeper and you'll show it
To yourself you'll always be true
You'll not get swayed by fashions
Or what others have to say
You're worth something all your own
And that's the best thing any day
Tznius is not about
Laws, rules, and restrictions
It's about showing what matters
It's between Hashem and you

I had to write a poem for class
oh what a hard fete to accomplish
I don't think i'll pass
The first sentence was hard to finish
Oh what should i write
I'll be up all night
I really can't think straight
writing is the one thing i hate
Thinking is too hard for me
Thinking drives me up a tree
I keep starting to doodle
Oh look, i drew a beautiful poodle
Oy vey, i need to get back on track
But that's the ability i lack
Should i give up and be embarrassed
or should i go to jail and get harrassed
for copying from something that's copywrited
instead of listening to the teacher and being righted
Will someone please tell me what is the best way
or will i end up sitting here all night and all day

The Small Alef
The difference between golah
And geula
Between vayikra and vayiker
Between malei and soveiv
Is one
And alef added in
To make geula
For the alef revealed in that time
That all will see the light of Hashem
Alufo shel olam
An alef added in
To make vayikra-that it was specific
Specifically directed at Moshe
Yet he is too humble
So the alef is small

Of malei and soveiv
Is only one- for what reason

Heart, Soul, and Mind
Writing is from the heart
Song is from the soul
Speech is from the mind
The heart fears and doubts
The soul knows and wants to tell
The mind thinks it knows, so it questions
The heart can be receptive or blocked
The soul is connected above but must reveal itself below
And the mind is a strong opinionated self, room for nothing else
Listen to the soul, let it rule your mind and heart

A Candle- A Song
TTTO: Two brothers together
I strike a match, a flame shoots forth
As darkness fades away
Another candle glowing bright
Lighting up the way
Each one of us a candle
Each one holding a key
To light another’s soul
And to guide its destiny
Chorus:
To fill the world with light
To light the way for others paved
We’re each given a match to use
To help light up the way
Then after each of us is lit
To go out and teach someone
To teach them and to light their flame
Until the job is done
Each one with the power
A lamplighter to be
To reach out to another
And to help the whole world see
The dawn’s about to break
The dark night forever gone
Just beyond the bleak horizon
Is an everlasting dawn
Chorus:
To fill the world with light
To light the way for others paved
We’re given Torah and Chassidus
To push galus away
Then after each of us is lit
To go out and teach someone
To teach them and to light their flame
‘Till all battles are won
The day has dawned
The darkness gone
We see with clarity
No longer are we blinded by such physicality
We look around and find ourselves
In the mikdash hashlishi
Together with our Rebbe
Dancing in total ecstasy
Chorus:
To fill the world with light
To light the way for others paved
We’re teaching Torah and Chassidus
To push galus away
Then after each of us is lit
To go out and teach someone
‘Till this galus finally ends
And all battles are won
It's my first really good song, but it's a little long....if only I can learn to write short songs, too.

A girl thinks about her past
A girl looks at her present
A girl predicts her future,
A girl dreams.
A girl dreams of being a woman
A girl dreams of living her life
A girl dreams of sharing her love,
A girl dreams of when she will recive the love she gives.
When dreams are crushed,
The girl cries about her past,
The girl looks through sunglasses at her present,
The girl dreads the future.
That girl dreads being a woman
That girl dreads living the life she is living
That girl dreads the pain of love,
That girl dreads giving what she is scared she will not recive.
Dreams are dreams that need to be dreamt,
Dreams are dreams that show hope for the future,
Dreams are dreams that can become reality,
But when do dreams become reality,
During the dreams ?
Or later in life ?

So many temptations
You work yourself up
And then you fall
Once you have fallen
Its hard to get back up
Hard to say good bye
To what you think is good for you
but makes you sink
Its so hard
You wanna go back
But the more You try,
The more harder You work,
The bigger the reward
The more satisified you feel
At times you do give in
But it makes the giving up,
A more satisified feeling.

If only time could be turned back
Agravation would be lost,
Lives would be saved,
People less hurt.
If only time could be turned back
People would think before they speak,
Knowing what the consequences,
Of their words could be.
If only time could be turned back
People would re-think lost opportunities,
They have missed and chosen
The wrong path.
Time cannot be turned back,
So thinking about the consequences,
Of the words you will say,
And grabbing opportunities,
As they come,
Can save alot of aggravation.

It is surrounded by,
Millions of other grass
Can one grass feel left out?
The grass works together,

Can one grass be different from the rest?
The grass are identical duplicates

There is one grass that is,
Alone, feels left out,
And different from the rest,
That grass is I,

Tomorrow comes,

All day long I say ‘when I’m finished having fun’

My goal in life
Is not going to be a goal anymore
However hard I have to work,
However many nisyanos I need to over come,
I will fulfill my goal.
All the nisyanos I have gone through
I have gone through for a reason,
And the reason is not to stop me,
From completing my goal in life.
I have been shown my goal,
It's been put infront of my face,
How can I ignore it ?
I will become a great teacher ot torah,
I will marry a great man of torah,
We will share our love of torah,
In our home,
To our many guests and children.

Tanya
Sitting, learning
Letting it penetrate deep within
I quietly sit with a Tanya in hand
Reading the most amazing things
The basis of Chassidus Chabad
A complete guide for dealing with emotions
And a handbook, telling you how to serve Hashem
B'chol l'vavcha uv'chol nafshecha
Teaching us how to live
About ourselves
And the different paths in avodas Hashem
Tanya touches the essence of each of us
If we only open ourselves and listen
And try to learn and serve Hashem
The Alter Rebbe speaks to each one of us
Personally
On our own level

Infanticide
Pitiable parents politely place poor posterity before television
Excision of soul ensues as they envision debasement of tradition
Emission onslaught of moral rot forcing submission of volition
Definition of self displaced, advertiser’s lies form their ambition
Imitating illegality kids’ feign friendliness towards fatality
Insanity received from the cathode rays shaping their reality
Mentality of insanity a advanced as modern day normality
In actuality a malady of beholding such visual brutality
Antidepressants pacify problem kids teachers resent
Parents ignoring extent of descent children underwent
Hell-bent on the box invent excuses rather than relent
Sent home suspended wont stop watching adult content
Spirit slowly sullied as if swallowing cyanide
Inside of cerebrum seared like wet wires fried
Deride truth of youth a sleuth can see denied
Collide with reality - the victim of infanticide

Thanks. I got some others, but I don't feel like posting em` just yet. However, I do have a five liner here for someone on special request (you know who you are). I wrote this in a "PS" to a friend of mine in an email like maybe a week ago. My custom is to try to end every letter I send this person with something funny. The funny this is, it's like a bunch of total nonsense, but it sounds nice. Here it is:
Quote:
PS. "Ode to the Creator of the Coffee Bean, G-d creatin` sensations so serene bustin outta blackness unseen like sun rays scratching screened surfaces softly seems almost unlike its foam teaming with life roaming rapidly off those roasting by the seems of your seat while you're drinking (busted out right now, lit. spontaneously, a-o-a-o <[;-p )

Very very funny. Here's an on-the-spot poem, the first I'va actually written on chabadtalk itself, instead of being pasted.
Late Nights
Sit here, procrastinating
My brain vaguely thinking something
Telling me drowsily to go to sleep
My body not moving, my soul is sleeping
Not wanting to do anything
Knowing, somehow
That somewhere I care
To finish my chitas and shema to say
But right now I'm here
Sitting in my chair, too lazy to end off my day
Though somehow I know
What I really should do
I'm not doing it, too tired I am
But soon I'll get up
To go finish my stuff
And then go to sleep, and just hope I'll get up
Tanya I must teach
From eleven to twelve
So some sleep I must get
But I still must get up
Shema I must say
And my yetzer hara I must push away
Though this is not easy, at the end of the day
It's the reason I was created
So for this I must stay
'Till I've flipped it over
Or at least made it be quiet
And this poem must end, or I will never get up
For I will write through the night
And sleep through the day
But daven I must, and a question should be asked-
What is my task, at this moment in time?
Is it to write poems, and have a good time?
Or to use that same time to go pray to G-d
Bring down Elokus, into this world?
To write this poem, is not my purpose
At least not at this moment in time
And so I will go, and get up off this chair
For that is my tachlis-
To do what I must.

yes, the one on this page. (I didn't get a chance yet to look at the others.)
I felt that the poem was talking to me and understood me, and how I would relate to the Tanya, in a very warm way.
It was very inspiring.

Thank you. I wrote, basically, how I feel about Tanya.....as a rule, most of these poems are about how I relate to the topic at hand. Tanya is one of those things that touches each one on their own level, yet teaches the same thing to everyone. The only other thing I can think of that's like that, is that this is how Moshiach will be- a melech and a rav, and teaching each on his own level, at the same time.

Torah has the ability to say a few words which contain so many deep and different meanings, enabling each person to derive guidance according to their own level and need.
The world itself, with everything that happens, contain lessons for one and all.
Tanya and chassidus illuminates this for us. In the geula shleima it will become clearer to everyone.
In other words, learning Tanya gives us what you describe in your posts, and also enables us to see and be inspired by G-dliness everwhere.

Agree. Completely. [Do we think alike on other matters, too, I wonder?]
emes m'eretz

Do we think alike on other matters?
I'm sure. Although there comes a point where "ein deioseihem shovois" (people don't think (completely) the same).
Take the example I mentioned above. Two people look at Torah or the world, and derive a lesson, each according to their own personality and makeup.
Ultimately the common ground is knowing and revealing G-d.
So to answer your question, I think that people may share common points of view, and common goals; yet have their own maps (ie. refining and internalizing) to get there.
But feel free to bring up more topics to discuss.
Have a good Shabbos.

Having said all that, a thought occured that I would like to squeeze in before Shabbos.
In the Rebbe's last sicha (Vayakhel 5752) the Rebbe emphasized the need for vayakhel. I'm rushing so I'm just saying from what I remember, I hope it's accurate: The Rebbe wanted that we should see and reveal the unity of G-d and the unity of Jews, and not necessarily worry about internalizing and refining our individual selves (pekudei).
I think that maybe the idea is, to make this our priority. So even when we learn chassidus etc, our goal should be to refine and strengthen ourselves in order to use it for the above goals (of vayakhel), and not to be focussed on ourselves so much (ie. not to make refining ourselves the main goal).
Any thoughts? Have a good Shabbos.

One candle
One strike
Lights up a room
Making it bright
Brighter then the moon.
One strike
Lights a candle
Sharing its life
With a whole big bundle.
Sharing, giving,
But not loosing,
This is the special light,
Hashem gave us,
Our soul,
Can share,
Can give,
Without any loss,
For it is apart of Hashem, infinite.

Hard pain,
Feels like there is no gain,
Feels like there is no hope,
I just mope.
Nothing touches me,
Nothing fazes me,
Nothing changes me.
Hashem shows me a new way,
There will be another day,
I am touched deep in my heart,
Now nothing can pull me apart.
I see more dimensions,
To my once simple world,
There is more,
More to hope for,
More to the future.

What about what Hillel said 'if I will not be for myself, then who will be for me?'
Excellent point. I looked at the sicha again and I left out one part where the Rebbe mentioned the unity between an individual and G-d.
But even there, the point seems to be that the total picture of the unity is revealed without waiting for the details.
I think that by taking care of the general unity (vayakhel), the details will be taken care of either automatically or with minimal effort later.
It's noteworthy that the very last pargraph talks about doing Tzedaka with all of one's person, thinking and talking about it etc., putting one's total invovement into it. And that this will bring about G-d doing Tezdaka by bringing the redemption.

Some people say
Internet is dreck
That there is no purpose
It's just one big awful net
That traps you and doesn't teach
Manners or middos, it does not preach
With no substance at all

So we sit on the web
And just bang our heads

Tights are tight
But must be worn
In the summer
They are hot
And you want to take them off
To go barefoot in the sand
Alas! That deserves a strong reprimand
We love our tights
And sleep in them all night
*ps-chas veshalom to sleep in them!

For this is what pulls you down
Heaviness and coarseness
From this yesod

Night
The darkness of the night
Concealing the light
Concealing the beauty
That we know is there
We wait for it to lift
For the bright day to break
So the beauty will show
And all will soon see
That in reality
Galus is not the truth
And we all will be
In the mikdash hashlishi
NOW!

Diamond
This poem
Shall end up being
Shaped like a diamond
As it continues to grow, while
Getting wider and wider with each line
And then narrower from then on
From the middle and down
As it nears the end
And finishes
It was shaped like a diamond, but it doesn't let me post like that.

I'm Not Moving
My neck is hurting
My hands are cold
I think I should simply
Go to sleep
But in sleep I have no interest
It is simply annoying
It means that I must
Get into pajamas
Get my negel vasser
Brush my teeth
Say shema
And go to sleep
That's too much to do
So I think I'd rather
Just sit and type poems
On my dearest Chabadtalk

The Leaves
I write of leaves so green and real
and close I feel I'm way up there
with the leaf as it sways with
the others in the sky, so on high.
Just me and the leaf, and I'm there too.
Funny how fate is fickle, how one person
is well, another ok, a third not good.
Let's all sway together, and thank G-d
for all, and ask for all, and all be tall
with the leaf so high.
It's the wind that helps us sway,
and eyeglasses to help us see
See and sway.
Today
Troubles soar away
Sway with one another, and support
so high. all together
Do what you can.

Do what you can. "Hakol haya min ha'afar - everything came from the Earth" (King Solomon) ...The same thing is here with these verses. HaShem spoke both soft and hard words. [The verse uses the hebrew words 'dabar' and 'emor' which
Chazal say indicate both strong and soft speech.] First words of
reproach to lower them [in their own eyes] and then soft words to
raise them up.
This is the meaning of the next verse, 'when you will enter the
land'. [The idea of land/earth] indicates humility. 'The land will
have a Shabbos [rest] for Hashem.' This indicates that they should be raised up. 'Shabbos' is a remez for this since [as it says in the seforim*] on Shabbos the heart feels raised up and is joyful.
This is the general rule with regards to humility. You should not
come to depression through it, but to a level where your heart is
raised up in joy to HaShem. This is the true level of humility. (p.
124 sefer Divrei Yisroel teachings of Rebbe Yisroel of Modzitz.)
