I heard the position of a famous Lubavitch Rabbi that it was better to stay at home on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kipur than to go to a Conservative synagogue to hear the shofar. Also, I would like to know why Lubavitch object to the Reform position on women wearing tallit, if indeed they do - there is no scriptural decree against it.
So my general question is: what is the position of the Lubavitch on Reform/Mesorti?

At the end of the Chabad Tehillim, p. 220, there's a letter printed from the Frierdikeh Rebbe where he speaks very harshly about one who davvens in a Reform "shul."

The specific formulation of the position mentioned in post #1 is actually famously attributed to Rabbi YD Soloveichik of Boston/YU. Unless you have the name of a specific Lubavitch Rabbi that you will share with us.
[Though in itself - the position makes sense].

I don't know the name of the rabbi, so you're probably right. But, tell me, why does the posiution of ostracizing Reform synagogues make sense?

Surely it's better to hear the shofar than not, especially on the High Holy Days?

also, noahidelaws, why is shul in quotes? the implication being that a reform shul is not a shul? why? they still pray there, and have a rabbi, and a minyan, etc

No matter how hard to try to fit a square block through a round hole, it never will fit. Now you can destroy the corners to make it fit but then it isnt a square anymore.

Its a rather corse analogy but it is what it is.

What is your goal of this discussion? That we validate your beliefs? I would assume the same results would happen if an orthodox Jew went on a reform message board.
